Review: YOUNG MONSTERS IN LOVE #1

When DC Comics advertised Young Monsters in Love as “The Valentine’s Day Special that no one saw coming!” They were not kidding around. This was one of the most surprising, touching, and intriguing comics of the year. As a lifelong Valentines-hater, I am amazed at how much these love stories appealed to me.

Review - Raven: Daughter Of Darkness #1 (DC Comics)

Raven is back and she is facing an entirely new set of problems. Raven: Daughter of Darkness #1 is the first issue in DC’s recent solo Raven title. It is set to be a 12-issue maxi-series, to follow up the previous Raven six-issue series from 2017. Both projects are written by Marv Wolfmann, who originally created Raven alongside George Perez. Though Wolfmann is back on a Raven series, this isn’t the same Raven you might recognize from past decades of comics.

Imaginary Fiends #1 is a Vertigo book through and through, and it dredges up memories of vintage horror and imaginative mystery. A mix between Beetlejuice and Men in Black, Imaginary Fiends is a striking, unexpected tale of accidental monsters and inescapable horror.

Review - Dark Fang #1

Out this week from Image Comics is the story of a vampire named Valla attempting to navigate the modern world. This introductory issue packs in a lot of exposition. Unfortunately, it is not always easy to follow or successfully executed. For a book with an interesting premise and some great artwork, Dark Fang #1 is a big disappointment from Image.
